Who says birthday photos have to mean standing in front of a backdrop with a cake?

She actually found me through TikTok, and from there we started putting together the idea for her western birthday photoshoot. She knew she wanted that cowgirl feel, but one thing was especially important: there had to be a horse involved.

Finding the right location ended up being a little bit of a scramble. A few places were already booked, and others just were not getting back to us, so we were trying to figure out somewhere that could actually bring the whole idea together.

Then we found Silver Family Farm.

And honestly, it worked out exactly how it needed to.

A Western Birthday Photoshoot With Personality

One of my favorite things about birthday photoshoots is that they can be literally whatever you want them to be. You do not have to wait for a huge milestone birthday, and you definitely do not have to stick to the usual birthday setup.

For this session, she wanted something western, fun, and a little different, so being at a farm made the entire concept feel more complete.

And then there was Hank.

Hank was the horse we got to photograph with during the session, and he was genuinely the star of the show. He was so good the entire time and added exactly what we were hoping for when we first started planning everything. Some of my favorite photos from the session ended up being the ones with him because they made the whole western birthday idea feel that much more real.

Birthday Photos Can Be an Experience Too

I think that is what I loved most about this session. It was not just showing up somewhere, taking a few birthday pictures, and going home.

We had an actual concept. We found a location that fit it.

And we turned her birthday photos into something that felt completely different from a traditional portrait session.
